Excerpt from the Book

Song of songs which is Solomon's.

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth; yes, your embraces are better than wine.

Your oils are good in fragrance, your name is an oil poured forth; therefore the maidens love you.

Draw me after you, let us run!

The king has brought me into his chambers.

Let us exult, let us rejoice in you!

Let us savor your embraces more than wine! The upright love you.

I am black but comely, daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon.

Do not gaze upon me, I who am swarthy: for the sun has looked upon me.
